1. When is the next show?
Shows change day to day so the best way to stay up to date on up-and-coming shows is to sign up on the Get Invited page, become fan of the MDreeland Art fan page on Facebook or you can follow me on Twitter at twitter.com/mdreeland.
2. What types of paints/media do you use?
use acrylic paints, paint markers and my computer for a lot of ideas. I choose to work primarily in acrylics for the vibrancy in color, thickness of texture and quick drying time.
3. Do you have a theme to your art show?
There is usually some form of a theme to my personal shows ranging from a seasonal tie-in or the launch of something new. As of late however, the shows have been more exhibition style such as at Time Warner Center or Red Dot in Miami where the work is just showcased.
4. How long does it take to complete one of your pieces?
The time it takes to finish a painting can have many variables such as size, complexity, and media. The range is anywhere from 40 to 400 hours.
5. How many pieces do you paint for each show?
I paint on average 4 to 12 paintings depending on the size of the pieces and the size of the show.
6. When and where do you paint?
I like to paint at night in my apartment when its quiet or in my outdoor studio space when the weather is nice. I have rented out various studio spaces through out all of New York City for completion of larger projects.
7. Who are your favorite artists?
There are specific aspects of various artists careers that I like such as Keith Haring's impact, Andy Warhol's ideas, Kandinsky's use of color, Van Gogh's use of texture. The most inspiring artists to me right now are the local New York City street/graffiti artists.
8. What are your hobbies/interests that inspire your work?
I love music, film, unique design, the outdoors, gardening, reality shows, shows about reality shows and anything pop culture.
